Pumice is a product of
explosive, volcanic eruptions and is a volcanic rock that is a solidified frothy lava that
usually floats on water. After an explosion, rafts of pumice drift through oceans for up
to 20 years, floating hundreds of miles, with tree trunks floating among them and support
several marine species.
Pumice stones are often used
in beauty salons during the pedicure process to remove dry and excess skin from the bottom
of the foot as well as calluses. Finely ground pumice is added to some toothpastes and
heavy duty hand cleaners as a mild abrasive.
The gritty properties of pumice powder makes a great scrubbing substance for all you
gardeners and mechanics. Also good for elbows, knees, and feet, pumice will rid you of
that dry, crusty skin helping to smooth and soften even the roughest spots. |
